Hey All!

Did you guys celebrate Halloween at all? Well my youngest Rhys and myself did but not Ethan, think he is going into the ‘tween’ stage hahaha!

Rhys wanted to be a shark… Baby Shark Song has a lot to answer for but thankfully i had the Max and Meena All The Ears PDF pattern.

It Features well over a dozen animal ears/spikes/fins that can be incorporated into the hood, the All Ears Hoodie allows you to create one of a kind hoodies from newborn to teens!! So it covers my boys for ages!!

The pattern gives you the option of using a standard or pixie hood and includes cut lines for adding ears or for sewing up a standard hood as well. Also options for long sleeve, short sleeve, and tank sleeves are included making this a hoodie pattern that can be used year round.

So this pattern is a steal at only $12.95!

I used a Navy Ponte Roma that i bought from B and M Fabrics, many moons ago and for the Teeth used white felt.

I only added the Fin and Teeth to the Hoody as Rhys only decided he wanted to be a shark with only 2 days before his School Halloween disco…. talk about a deadline!

I managed to get it completed the night before at 10pm!

Thankfully i had a bit more time for mine as i was only getting dressed up for work on actual Halloween rather than Rhys’s Disco on the 24th! So here is Rhys on his way to the Disco!

I had a dress from last year which thankfully was too big now since ive lost weight so i refashioned it using Love Notion’s Laundry Day Tee. Which at time of publishing is currently on sale for $5 or join the Love Notion’s pattern support Facebook Group for a very special discount code that makes the LDT FREE just for the members! Click on the link to join and read the pinned post to get the code !

It comes with three neckline options- scoop, v-neck & cowl as well as five sleeve lengths – tank, short, elbow, 3/4 and long. You also get to choose from a regular tee shirt length,  tunic length & dress. The tunic and dress lengths have a high/low hem option. Win Win!

I cut a size Medium, Elbow Sleeves and Tunic Length. I also added my own Cuffs to the Arms to add a bit more to it.

I used Tubular Black ribbing for the Neckband and Cuffs from Minerva Crafts.

I knocked this up in no time at all as its simple construction and even better when i use over locker to get them professional results on the inside too 🙂

So here i am at my work all dressed up spookly with my witch’s hat hahaha! We had a fab day making our slime and party games to play later on the day! For some reason that’s the only photo of myself but it was taken with work’s tablet which doesn’t have a fab quality camera!

What did you guys get up to Halloween?

Hi all!

Thought I would join in this year to make 9 garments that i actually want to make and wear! Rather than just for a specific event, I’m wanting to make more everyday clothes!

I’d rather have ‘me made’ clothes that are comfy and fit my quirky style of prints rather than boring plain one colour ready to wear from the High Street, which I’ve gotten into the habit of buying!

I’m planning to get in summer clothes into the list as we are planning an trip to USA in the Summer holidays where i would def need light and airy garments!

So here are my 9 that I’ve managed to wittle down!

1. Sunny Top by  Friday Pattern Company – Can’t go wrong with a staple jersey top.

2. Kinder Cardi by Wendy Ward from her new book – I always wear cardis for work but never at home so I’d thought I would make this one as it has awesome pockets and more a casual look.

3. Lilly Cami by Sinclair Patterns – holiday wardrobe part 1. With 2 different options and so simple to make!

4. McCalls M7536 Dress – A cute everyday dress. I’ve not had a v neck dress made in a while and love the 3 quarter sleeves.

5. Bea Blouse Simply Sewing Magazine – A nice smart top for work

6. Copenhagen Harbor Boardshorts by Stitch upon a Time – Holiday wardrobe part 2. As it’ll be an adventure with plenty of fun I’ll be able to keep my modesty better with shorts rather than skirts! ?

7. Suki Kimono by Helen’s Closet – I’ve always wanted a nice Dressing Gown, so why not put on my list to to kick my bum into making one!

8. Tilly and The Buttons Slipper Boots – Don’t know about you guys but I am forever going through slippers!! They must be my favourite shoes since i go through them so much! So i thought well why not having a go at making my own!

9. Monsal lounge Pants by Wendy Ward – I never seem to have a pair of lounge about pants it’s always my pjs lol so it’s be nice to have a comfy sensible pair…. rather than mad print pjs in case of visitors and for them to think why is she in her pjs at 1pm in the afternoon ?

There you go folks! My #2018MakeNine is all set and ready to go!

What’s on your on list?

Happy sewing!

Hello!

Look what i managed to finally make this year…. a Christmas top! Like i said last year i hoped to make more Christmas related sewing! I raided my stash as i knew i had some Christmas Jersey left over from last year and thankfully i had a 1m of Reindeer jersey from Fabricstyles which i had won from their Instagram competition last Christmas!

Last year i managed to get a Christmas Dress sorted and I’m working on it again this year in the form of the Deer and Doe’s Belladone with Red and White polka dot fabric from Adam Ross in their Black Friday Sale at a steal of just over a tenner for 3m at extra wide!

Now, as you do i was looking through my huge amount of PDF Patterns…. yeah i have a problem! I came across Love Notions Laundry Day Tee, I used this pattern last year for my mum for a Christmas Present and for some reason never got round to making myself one…. till now!

Thankfully, there has been an updated version of the pattern which now features a better fitting sleeve, more sleeve options, a dress length and high/low tunic & dress options! The tee and tunic have also been shortened too. Yay!

I decided since it was for work that I’d make the Tee version as i wanted it be comfy without it swamping me as i am only short hahaha!

With regarding the sizing options and measuring i went for the Medium. With the handy layer options on the Pattern i was able just to print the medium and piecing together lines for the a4 size rather than being set to US size, win win!

I really like the clever way the back piece attaches to the front without the need of piecing and cutting out 2 separate pattern pieces.

Yes, i got this tee cut out in a Metre but i couldn’t fit the neckband pattern piece on the fold… So I had to add a 1cm Seam allowance to my Neckband and sewn it together and there you go! You actually can’t tell that I’ve done that on the band itself mwhahaha!

I used my Singer Overlocker for the majority of the construction of the Tee including my neckband.

I then brought our My Trusty Singer 9960 to finish the Neckband, Sleeves and Hem.

Here is the final result!

A little selfie as the lighting is crap here in the UK at the mo! I hope to get some better pics when the weather picks up!

Happy Sewing folks!

Hello!

I can finally show you The Laundry Day Tee by Love Notions that I had made for my mum for Christmas.

I did have the good intentions of making more gifts but nothing had seemed to go right and thought I’d give up and have some time off from sewing and enjoy the festivities!

I acquired this fabric from the Fabric Swap at Sew Up North from the lovely Emma aka @frenchyem at least you know it’s gone into good use! Thank you for bringing it to the Swap!

I’ve seen my mum wearing Tunic length tops that are similar style to The Laundry Tee and this fabric just screamed to be made into.

Now I ain’t going to lie it was a bit of b**** to sew with, it’s a loose Knit but drapey as heck and Mr Singer had a few attempts of eating it ?

But low and behold I preserved and it turned out really well!.I’m even impressed of how good the neckband turned out too!

So If I had used more a stable knit/jersey then this would of been sewn in a couple of hours as it is only 3 pattern pieces but with it being a loose Knit, I finished my seams to make sure it wouldn’t unravel.

So here it is before it was wrapped up for the mama.

So if you want to make your own the Pattern is on sale at $4!! Which is roughly £3.27 at time of posting which is bargain with the different neckline options and lengths of sleeves and the top itself! Bargain!
