Hello and Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it! I can’t believe it’s the 31st of October already!!
I’m on a roll here! I’ve made one of my projects from my Autumn/winter sewing plans already! Yay! Not sure this will last though 🤔
When I scrolling through insta, I came across Curvy Pattern Database and love how Sarah shares patterns and designers that go to at least 60″ (152cm) hip. Sewing has to be inclusive for all and to take the hard work out of grading up patterns is fantastic 👏 so I’m entering the October challenge!
As soon as this pattern (Waves and Wild Stephanotis) was was released, I soon snapped it up as it isn’t just a dress, it can be a tee or peplum top and you can choose between half circle skirt or full circle skirt which both includes pockets! No dress isn’t complete without pockets in my opinion.
I’m a fan of Stranger Things and when I saw this inspired fabric on Knighton Fabrics Facebook page, it was a no brainer! So when this fabric arrived, I knew the Stephanotis was the perfect pattern.
The only adjustments I made were to shorten the sleeve by 2″ and the skirt by 3″. Just my usual short ass adjustments lol.
I made a XL with the full bust adjustment then graded to 2xl for waist then 4xl for hips but to be honest I could of got away without grading the hips even with the half circle option.
It sewed up really well and used my twin needle for the hems and neckband.
No garment of mine can get away without having a label in. For this dress, I went for “Today is a good day” by Little Rosy Cheeks. I just adore Victoria’s labels, so inspiring and colourful.
Here is moi modelling said dress whilst out and about at the Trafford Centre, Manchester.
Happy Sewing!
